ABC QandA “Execution Squad”

I could not find another variation of the word #disgusting to describe the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) #QandA
https://lnkd.in/gyuDrDkQ on Israel-Gaza war.
We had to show Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, just how racist this country is!

There was no discussion. The “executive squad” were on a mission to discredit and disqualify Nasser. Patricha was extremely biased and rude and couldn’t hold herself from interrupting Naseer every second to divert his talk into her grounds.

The framing and handling of questions were disproportionately aimed at harassing the Palestinian panellist Naseer to condemn Hamas, rather than fostering a genuine and unbiased engagement with the complex issues at hand.

While Patricia Karvelas rejected Nassers’s attempt to place the discussion within the broader context and history of the Palestinian’s struggle, she insisted on asking him about his own history!!!!! So, you don’t care about the history of Palestine, but want to get down on the history of Naseer’s personal life! What a low and exposed despicable move not in line with the ethics of journalism and definitely not in line with the purpose of this QandA episode. Obviously, a tactic for “character assassination”

The overall tone was not conducive to promoting a nuanced understanding of the Palestinian-Israeli crisis and did not contribute constructively to a clear understanding of the conflict.

The implicit bias in the tone and line of questioning, coupled with the overt attempt to call into question the character of the Palestinian panellist, highlighted a clear leaning towards the pro-Israel perspective, this can only serve to further exacerbate community tensions.

Please lodge a complaint, ABC should not get away with their biased reporting https://lnkd.in/ght55g6Q
